Disc Golf Course Baskets Wholesale

DiscGolfSet is a sourcing partner, not a factory. We help parks departments, schools, course developers, and distributors specify disc golf baskets, match them to vetted Chinese manufacturers, and manage samples, inspection, and export — so you install a course or resell a basket line without holding a production line you cannot audit.

Basket Types We Source

Four categories handle most course, park, school, and resale work. Two questions narrow it down before price enters into it: does the basket stay ground-installed or move between venues, and does it need to be tournament-legal. Those two answers eliminate half the range on their own.

Permanent Course Baskets

Ground-installed targets for municipal courses, school campuses, and tournament venues. Steel pole, welded chain assembly, concrete or ground-sleeve mounting. Available in Championship, Standard, and Basic PDGA classes.

MOQ from 10 · FOB $88–$180 · PDGA classes

Portable Tournament Baskets

Movable targets for events, camps, and pop-up courses. Folding or bolt-together frame, carry bag included, 12 or 18 chain configuration. Lighter freight than permanent units, which matters when the order ships by air.

MOQ from 50 · FOB $26–$31 · 10–25 day lead

Practice & School Baskets

Simplified catch design for PE programs, clubs, and backyard training. 12 chains, powder-coated steel, lowest unit cost of the range. Not PDGA-approved for sanctioned tournament play.

MOQ from 100 · FOB from $39 · training use

Private Label & Sponsor Baskets

Same hardware, your branding: custom powder-coating colour, logo application on pole or cage, sponsor graphics, and branded hole-number sets. For resorts and events that sell the basket as merchandise.

MOQ from 100 · setup fee applies · custom colour

Tee Pads & Signs

Concrete tee pads, tee signs, and hole markers, usually sourced in the same order as the baskets. Consolidating them into one shipment is materially cheaper than sourcing separately — freight per basket drops when the container is shared.

Quoted per hole · consolidated with baskets

Mounting Hardware

Anchor pipes, locking collars, padlocks, and one-way screws. Order these with the basket, not after — a mismatched collar will not lock into a sleeve bought from a different supplier, and retrofitting hardware mid-project delays the install.

MOQ Tiers and How Pricing Changes

MOQ on baskets is driven by finishing, not by the steel. A standard model in stock colour can ship in tens of units; the same model in a custom powder-coating colour with a logo moves the minimum to hundreds. A quote without an MOQ is not a quote.

One constraint worth knowing before you plan a phased install: colour consistency across batches. A powder-coat line running a different pigment batch can shift a basket’s finish visibly against a set installed six months earlier. If a course is built in phases, either order the full colour quantity at once or accept that later baskets will not be an exact finish match. Hot-dip galvanising ages the same way — mild bloom on the surface is normal weathering, not a defect claim.

Container scale1,000+ unitsFull programme incl. mixed-SKU consolidationNational retail chains, resort groups$26–$40

FOB ranges are indicative 2026 planning baselines assembled from published listings. Two variables move the number more than volume: finish (hot-dip galvanizing vs powder coating vs standard epoxy) and chain configuration (12/18 vs 24 vs 26/28 chains). Real quotes are issued against a written specification.

Two things surprise first-time buyers. First, a permanent basket at 30 kg assembled is expensive to ship empty — flat-packed or knock-down form changes the per-unit freight more than the unit price. Second, the sample you approve proves the finish, not the batch. Consistency across a 200-unit run is answered by inspection against a written protocol, not by the sample.

Volume economics and retail markup benchmarks are in custom disc golf baskets wholesale cost, and 1,000-unit order economics including container loading and duty treatment are in custom logo basket pricing for 1,000 units. Freight and duty stacking is covered in the FOB pricing guide for China targets.

PDGA Target Specifications and Approval

If your baskets will host sanctioned tournament play, the dimensions are not negotiable. PDGA’s target certification form states numeric requirements per testing class, and a target that fails any of them needs a fresh submission and a new testing fee. These are the values your supplier’s sample has to hit.

What approval covers, and what it does not

PDGA approval is granted to a specific target, from a specific manufacturer. It is not a category approval you can extend to a rebadged or rebranded unit. If you change the chain count, the deflection assembly, or the frame material from the approved configuration, you are shipping a different target — and the approval no longer applies to it. For municipal tenders that specify “PDGA-approved”, this distinction is the difference between a compliant bid and a rejected one.

Approval review takes roughly 15 business days after the physical sample reaches PDGA’s Technical Standards Working Group, and the manufacturer bears the sample shipping, duty, and testing fees. Plan for that inside your project timeline, not after it. Approved manufacturers in our partner network include Qingdao Tide Sports, Qingdao Hippo Sport Products, and Ningbo Junye Stationery & Sports Articles for discs; basket hardware is matched per project.

Our PDGA approved manufacturers guide covers how approval works for discs and what to verify, and tournament supplier insights covers the deadline math for event-led demand.

Installation Systems and Site Preparation

The basket is the cheap part of a course. Site preparation, mounting hardware, and labour usually exceed the basket cost on municipal projects. Specify the mounting system before you order, because it changes both the hardware list and the labour estimate.

Mounting methodHardwareBest forConsideration
Ground sleeveAnchor pipe cemented into an 8 in × 18–24 in hole; basket pipe slides in and locks with a padlock collarMulti-hole courses, public parksRecommended when soil compacts or erodes; allows basket relocation and rotation
Concrete baseCast footing, permanently fixed poleResort installations, high-wind sitesHighest permanence, no relocation, higher labour
Portable baseWeighted rubber or fold-out legsSchools, events, temporary coursesNo concrete needed; needs transport and storage

Sleeve dimensions follow common North American practice: anchor pipe set in a hole roughly 8 in diameter and 18–24 in deep, with matching locking collars. Municipal specifications vary — confirm against your local standard before ordering.

On a typical multi-hole build, add two to three extra anchors per hole so the basket can be moved periodically to reduce soil compacting. Anti-theft measures worth specifying: locking collar, one-way screws, and serialized hole numbers.

What a Project Actually Costs Per Hole

Published municipal and association budgets are the most useful sanity check available, because they are numbers someone actually committed to. Across the ones we compiled, baskets run roughly a third to half of installed cost — and tee infrastructure is the line that gets forgotten until the budget is already committed.

Line itemTypical unitPer 18 holesNotes
Basket (permanent, standard spec)$257–$400$4,600–$7,200DGA Mach series at the low end; Discatcher Pro at the high end
Locking collar / anchor assembly$11–$22$200–$400Often bundled with the basket, sometimes itemised separately
Additional sleeves~$25 each$225–$4502–3 per hole is common for rotation
Concrete (basket mounts)~$5.50 per 60 lb bag~$200–$4003 bags per basket is a common planning figure
Concrete tee pads~$68 per pad~$1,2205 ft × 10 ft × 4 in, plus formwork
Tee signs$50–$100 each$900–$1,800Dibond or printed; custom graphics cost more
Installation labour$20/hr, 4 hrs per basket~$1,44072 hrs for baskets alone; tee pads add 144 hrs

Assembled from published municipal proposal documents and association budget templates (Wyoming, Vallejo CA, Alberta, Texas, Michigan). Regional labour rates and shipping distances move these figures substantially — use them as a structure, not a quote.

A realistic installed budget lands somewhere around $400–$1,000 per hole, depending on tee infrastructure and labour. A bare basket-only installation is far cheaper but rarely what a municipality actually builds. When you are comparing supplier quotes, ask each one whether the figure includes sleeves, collars, concrete, and tee pads — the cheapest basket quote is often the most expensive project quote.

Customization and Branding Options

Branding on a basket is unusual compared with discs: the logo sits on a curved steel pole or the top cage, and it has to survive outdoor UV and weather. The realistic options, in ascending cost and lead time:

Finish selection for outdoor installs

Three finishes cover most conditions. Standard powder coating is the cheapest and fine for sheltered or temperate sites. Hot-dip galvanizing is the right call for coastal, pool-adjacent, or high-humidity installations — it is the finish that survives standing water. E-coating sits between the two on cost. Most municipal specifications name galvanizing explicitly, so check the tender document before sampling a colour version.

Private label scope

Private label on a basket means the branding, the hole-number sets, the packaging, and the colour all carry your identity — the hardware stays from a qualified partner. It requires a higher MOQ because of the coating setup. Our private label disc golf guide covers where the boundary sits between a logo stamp and a full private-label programme, and disc golf OEM services sets out the coordination scope.

Why Source Through a Partner Instead of a Factory

Ordering baskets direct from a Chinese factory looks cheaper on the quotation and is frequently more expensive on delivered cost. Baskets are heavy, bulky, and ship badly in assembled form — freight is a much larger share of landed cost than for discs, so how the order is consolidated and packed matters as much as the unit price.

We are explicit about this because buyers who misunderstand what we do end up with the wrong expectation. DiscGolfSet does not weld baskets, does not hold inventory of our own branded products, and does not sell you our own label. We identify qualified production partners, negotiate and verify them, hold them to a written specification, coordinate inspection, and manage the export steps. The value is in the coordination and the accountability, not in owning a production line.

What a sourcing partner actually does: shortlists qualified manufacturers against your spec and timeline · verifies certifications independently of the supplier · translates your specification into manufacturing terms · confirms which moulds and finishes the partner actually runs · runs sample and pre-shipment inspection against an agreed protocol · consolidates mixed-SKU orders so baskets, discs, and bags share a container · manages export documentation and freight

Our guide to choosing disc golf wholesale suppliers sets out how to run this comparison yourself, how to evaluate Chinese disc golf manufacturers covers telling a factory from a trading company, and how to import disc golf products covers customs and the Section 301 duty question on sporting goods.

How a Course Basket Program Runs

Six steps, and the two that get skipped are the two that cause disputes on site. Skipping the specification and skipping pre-shipment inspection are the two ways a project ends up with 20 baskets that do not match the approved sample, at the worst possible moment — after the concrete is poured.

  1. Specification and briefYou state hole count, mounting method, finish, chain configuration, PDGA class requirement, budget per hole, and installation timeline. We push back where the spec is internally inconsistent — a PDGA Championship target on a school budget is a contradiction, and this stage exists to catch it before anyone quotes.
  2. Supplier shortlistWe identify 2–3 qualified manufacturers that actually run the model, finish, and chain count you specified, then share verified data: facility, coating capability, export history, and pricing at your volume.
  3. Sample and finish confirmationPhysical samples from the shortlisted partner, including the coating or colour you specified. Budget 10–15 days for a custom-finish sample. Measure against the written PDGA dimensions where certification is required.
  4. Specification freeze and PODimensions, finish, chain count, hardware list, inspection protocol, and defect thresholds are written into the purchase order. This document is what the inspection is judged against and what you escalate with.
  5. Production and pre-shipment inspectionProduction runs, then inspection against the agreed protocol — inspection percentage, timing within the run, defect thresholds. Full pre-shipment inspection runs roughly 3–5% of order value. For baskets, this is where coating adhesion and weld integrity get checked.
  6. Consolidation, export, and deliveryBaskets flat-packed or knock-down where possible to cut freight, export documentation, balance payment against inspection release, freight booking, and tracking. Express 5–10 days, air 10–15, sea 25–40. You receive documents, not promises.

Course Baskets Wholesale FAQ

What is the MOQ for disc golf course baskets?

Ten units for a permanent course basket in a stock colour, rising to 50 for portable folding units, 100 for practice baskets, and 200–1,000+ for full private-label programmes. Custom powder-coating colour moves the minimum to hundreds regardless of model. MOQ applies per model and per colour, so two finishes at 100 units each is a 200-unit order.

Do the baskets come PDGA approved?

Approval is granted to a specific target from a specific manufacturer, not as a category you can extend. If you change chain count, deflection assembly, or frame material from the approved configuration, the approval no longer applies to your unit. For tenders that require approval, confirm the exact approved model before ordering. Review takes about 15 business days after the sample reaches PDGA, with the manufacturer bearing sample, duty, and testing costs.

How much do baskets cost?

Indicative FOB ranges are $26–$31 for portable folding units at 1,000+ volume, $60–$90 for permanent course baskets at 10–50 units, and up to ~$180 for a hot-dip galvanized championship set at 100 units. US distributor list prices for comparison run $375–$400 for a Discatcher Pro with sleeve and warranty included. Landed cost depends heavily on finish, chain count, and whether the order ships flat-packed or assembled.

How long does production and delivery take?

Portable stock models quote 10–25 days; custom-finish and coating runs add 7–12 days; some high-chain-count models quote around 45 days. Add freight after that — express 5–10 days, air 10–15, sea 25–40. For an event deadline, plan backward from the on-site date across the full chain, not from the production finish date.

Can you ship a full course as one consolidated order?

Yes. Mixed-SKU consolidation is the norm here, not an exception — a typical course needs baskets, tee signs, discs, and sometimes bags and markers, and those ship far cheaper together than separately. We consolidate, balance against one inspection, and issue one set of export documents.

What finish should I specify for an outdoor installation?

Hot-dip galvanizing for coastal, pool-adjacent, or high-humidity sites; standard powder coating is fine for sheltered or temperate locations; e-coating sits between them on cost. Most municipal tender documents name the finish explicitly — check the specification before sampling a custom colour, because changing finish changes both lead time and unit price.

Do you provide installation support?

We supply mounting hardware and the manufacturer’s installation documentation, and we can arrange third-party installation or coordinate with your local contractor. We do not send crews. The two realistic self-build routes for schools and clubs are the sleeve-and-padlock method (portable, allows rotation, 8 in × 18–24 in hole) and the concrete base method (permanent, higher labour).

Can we order just a few baskets to start?

Yes — one to five units for evaluation is normal, and ten to fifty is the standard small-project range. The unit price at sample quantities is at or above list, which is worth it if it prevents a 200-unit order of the wrong model. Many course developers start with a 10-unit pilot on one hole before committing to the full layout.
